Iron casting
what is iron casting?
Iron casting are metal molded objects made of iron, in which the smelted liquid iron is injected into the pre-prepared model by pouring, pressure injection, inhalation, or other pouring methods, and then cooled and polished to form objects with special shapes and functions.
Iron casting are divided into gray iron casting and ductile iron casting
Gray iron casting
What is gray iron casting?
Gray cast iron is cast iron with flaky graphite, which is called gray cast iron because the fracture is dark gray when fractured. The main components are iron, carbon, silicon, manganese, sulfur, and phosphorus, which are the most widely used cast iron, and their production accounts for more than 80% of the total cast iron production. According to the morphology of graphite, gray cast iron can be divided into ordinary gray cast iron, graphite is flaky; ductile cast iron, graphite is spherical; malleable cast iron, graphite is flocculent; worm cast iron, graphite is worm-like.
Ductile iron casting
What is ductile iron casting?
Ductile iron is a high-strength cast iron material with comprehensive performance close to steel, and it is based on its excellent performance that it has been successfully used to cast some parts with complex force, high strength, toughness and wear resistance requirements. Ductile iron has rapidly developed into a very widely used cast iron material second only to gray cast iron.
Ductile iron is obtained through spheroidization and conception treatment, which effectively improves the mechanical properties of cast iron, especially the plasticity and toughness, thus obtaining higher strength than carbon steel.
Ductile iron castings have been used in almost all major industrial sectors that require high strength, plasticity, toughness, wear resistance, resistance to severe thermal and mechanical shock, resistance to high or low temperatures, corrosion resistance, and dimensional stability. To meet these variations in service conditions, ductile iron is available in many grades, offering a wide range of mechanical and physical properties.
Ductile iron of the pearlite type is characterized by high to medium strength, medium toughness and plasticity, high overall performance, good wear resistance, and vibration damping, and good casting process performance. It can change its performance through various heat treatments. It is mainly used for various power machinery crankshaft, camshaft, connecting shaft, connecting rod, gear, clutch plate, hydraulic cylinder body, and other parts.

A group of numbers after the code in the grade indicates the tensile strength value; when there are two numbers, the first group indicates the tensile strength value, and the second group indicates the elongation value. The two groups of numbers are separated by “-“
Alloying elements with international element symbols, content greater than or equal to 1%, with an integer: less than 1 % is generally not marked. Conventional elements (C, Si, Mn, S, p) are generally not marked, and only when there is a unique role are the element symbols and content marked.
Ductile iron is often used in the production of complex forces, strength, toughness, wear resistance, and other requirements of high parts, such as cars, tractors, internal combustion engines, such as crankshafts, camshafts, and general machinery, such as medium-pressure valves.
